Static Cling 15” Punched EDGE READY Color 10 Yard 50 Yard Clear P50823A P50824A White P53201A P53202A
Gerber Static Cling films are designed to adhere to glass without adhesive. These 7 mil specialty vinyls can be printed with the Gerber EDGE or decorated with vinyl graphics. Intended for interior application.
DESCRIPTION
Gerber Static Cling is a 7-mil, highly plasticized, vinyl film designed to adhere to glass and other
clean, smooth, non-porous surfaces. Static Cling has been designed for use with the GERBER
EDGE®, GERBER EDGE 2®, and GERBER EDGE FX thermal transfer printing systems, in
conjunction with GerberColor Foils.
Gerber Static Cling is available in clear and white.
INTENDED APPLICATIONS
Static Cling vinyl is ideally suited for producing attractive single and multi-color graphics for
interior signs and displays. Static Cling can also be used as a substrate for easily-mounted and
removable, temporary signs.
This vinyl is intended for temporary application to glass. It may also function adequately on
smooth, non-porous plastics and metals. Static Cling is not intended for use on painted
surfaces without prior test and approval by the user. The user should determine the suitability
of all substrates prior to application.
Static Cling is intended for interior applications only. It is not intended for applications where
petrochemical contact may occur.
APPLICATION TECHNIQUES
Applying the decorated surface of Static Cling directly to the substrate may result in partial
transfer of the graphic. Print graphics in reverse mode if the opposing substrate surface is the
preferred viewing mode (clear Static Cling only).
Clear Static Cling may develop a surface haze. The haze will dissipate after the graphic is
applied.

The application surface must be clean, smooth, and as close to room temperature as possible.
Small Static Cling graphics can be applied dry and without application tape. Use a roller or a
squeegee with a non-friction sleeve to smooth Static Cling into place.
PRINTING
If your software material selection palette does not have Gerber Static Cling, use Gerber HP
220 lighter print settings.
GerberColor Spot (GCS), GerberColor Process Pro CMYK (GCP), and GerberColor
Transparent (GCT) Series Foils can be used to print onto Gerber Static Cling. Blot away any
excess pigment transfer of certain GerberColor Foils with application tape immediately after
printing.
The bail arm squeegees on your EDGE® Series thermal transfer printing system may stick to
the surface of Static Cling. Applying a strip of Gerber Hi-tack application tape on the squeegees
should eliminate this occurrence.
Recommended working environment is as follows:
Operating temperature: 50ºF to 95ºF / 10ºC to 35ºC
Recommended temperature for assured printing accuracy: 68ºF to 78ºF / 20ºC to 26ºC
Operating humidity: 20% to 90% relative humidity, non-condensing (maximum range;
actual range varies by material used)
PROTECTING GRAPHICS
Gerber Technology offers products that are designed to protect vinyl and printed graphics.
Gerber Guard manufactured by 3M is a durable, dimensionally stable, glossy vinyl
overlaminate. This film has a petrochemical-resistant construction and is intended to be used
when markings may be exposed to petrochemical spillage and/or severe handling conditions.
Gerber UVGuard is a custom-formulated, 1-mil, clear, extremely durable polyvinyl fluoride
(PVF) laminating film designed to further expand the resistance to weathering of printed
graphics for up to five years.
Gerber UVGuard™ 9 manufactured by 3M is a 2-mil, glossy, clear, mildew-resistant, polyvinyl
fluoride laminating film with a petrochemical-resistant adhesive system. It is designed to further
expand the resistance to weathering of printed graphics up to nine years. Gerber UVGuard 9
has the highest protection from UV fade.
Gerber StrikeGuard™ is an 8.0-mil, clear, glossy overlaminate film designed for a variety of
applications. This heavy-duty overlaminate film is ideal for the protection of graphics, up to two
years, and is especially beneficial where printed graphics experience severe handling and
forceful impact. Gerber StrikeGuard is not recommended in applications that require
petrochemical protection or where additional UV or vandal resistance is desired.
Abrasion Guard SPF (Sign Protection Formula) is a clear, top-coat GerberColor Finishing
Series (GCF) Foil designed for use with EDGE® Series thermal transfer printing systems, to
protect graphics from moderate contact and exposure to harmful effects of UV rays. It has an
expected performance life of up to five years (when printed by itself). When applied as a
protective overprint on other GerberColor Foils, Abrasion Guard SPF will extend the life of the
base color by up to 30%.

CUTTING
Gerber Static Cling can be cut on any 15-inch EDGE-compatible sprocketed plotter. A 30°
SuperSharp blade is recommended. Plotters can be set to full speed. A test cut should be
performed by the user to determine the proper tool force setting.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
Gerber Static Cling can be stored for three months after purchase. Film should be kept in a
clean area free from excessive moisture and direct sunlight. Maintain temperature at less than
75°F (23°C) and ensure 75% relative humidity.
Use a paper interleaf between printed materials that are stacked or rolled. Do not store printed
graphics face to face.
MAINTENANCE
To clean printed graphics, use a mild, non-abrasive soap with a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid
using alcohol-based cleansers or soaps containing grit or abrasives
