Product Description 3M Chrome Graphic Film 3635-110 is a unique, 3 mil translucent film that reflects light
to produce a glossy chrome appearance in a finished graphic. This medium to long-term
film can be applied flat to any plastic sheet or thermoformed on a high temperature
copolyester sheet. It is designed for use on first or second surface signs in an
internally-illuminated sign box.
Recommended Types of

and General Exceptions
Shrinkage Shrinkage of this film is not covered by the 3M MCS Warranty.
Dull Appearance A dull appearance that results from thermoforming at too high a temperature and then
stretching the film is not covered by the 3M MCS Warranty.

Graphics Made with
Components Not Sold or
Recommended by 3M
The 3M MCS Warranty does not cover finished graphics made with inks, film, graphic
protection and/or application tapes that are not sold or recommended by 3M. The user is
solely responsible for the graphic appearance, performance and durability of graphic constructions
that include any other products.
Graphic Performance Life The actual performance life of a graphic is affected by all of the following.
• Selection and preparation of the substrate
• Method of sign making
• Application and installation methods
• Exposure conditions
• Cleaning methods
Product Bulletin 3635-110- 3
Fabrication Refer to Instruction Bulletin 5.16 for thermoforming film on plastic. Also heed the following
information.
• Diffusion. Without diffusion, light sources will be seen through the chrome film.
• Substrate drying. PETG substrate may need to be oven dried to remove moisture; test
and approve.
• Clear top surface liner. Always remove the clear protective surface liner from the film
after applying it to the substrate and before drying.
• Thermoforming temperature. While determining the proper temperature to form your
signs, consider the following:
– Film temperatures over 330°F (165°C) may cause the chrome appearance to lose
gloss and become dull as the film is stretched.
– Too low a temperature causes the film to wrinkle around the returns.
• Mold design. The emboss or mold height must be at least 4 times the thickness of the
copolyester sheet to prevent wrinkles. For example, if the sheet thickness is 0.150 inches
(3.8 mm), the emboss or mold height must be at least 0.60 inches (15.2 mm).
• Butt seams. Use precisely matched butt seams or overlaps after thermoforming. Butt
seams done before thermoforming are likely to separate and cause a light leak.
Application Tape • For premasking large parts of a graphic with the liner on or off, use 3M Premasking
Tape SCPM-3.
• If small parts (less than 8 inches) need to be prespaced, use 3M Prespacing Tape
SCPS-2.
