Gerber GerberMask ULTRA II Masking
GerberMask ULTRA II is a durable, conformable 4 mil white vinyl film, coated with aggressive acrylic removable adhesive now on a new moisture-resistant liner. Designed to hold during light sandblasting, acid etching, or paint applications. Removable, with no adhesive transfer. Suitable for use on glass, Plexiglas, stainless steel, unfinished and finished wood surfaces. DO NOT APPLY GerberMask ULTRA II TO FLEXIBLE VINYL FILM.
NOTE: GerberMask ULTRA II has a high-tack adhesive that will adhere strongly to smooth, high-energy substrates, such as Plexiglas or polycarbonate. Requires some effort to remove. GerberMask ULTRA, with low-tack adhesive, may be more suitable for this type of application. GerberMask ULTRA can be used on flexible vinyl substrates.

DESCRIPTION
GerberMask Ultra II has been developed as a replacement for GerberMask II. GerberMask Ultra II is
a 4-mil, white film with an aggressive, removable, acrylic adhesive and layflat liner
construction. It features a moisture resistant liner that resists curling or expansion due to
changes in humidity. The result is a dimensionally stable and exceptionally flat masking product.
GerberMask Ultra II can be easily identified by the black “GerberMask” imprint on the back.
INTENDED APPLICATIONS
GerberMask Ultra II has been designed to hold during sandblast and painting operations. The
film can be hand or spray painted, light sandblasted or acid etched.
Recommended Substrates: Glass, Plexiglas®, Stainless steel, unfinished and finished wood
surfaces. Do NOT apply GerberMask Ultra II to flexible vinyl film.
Minimum Application Temperature: 40°F.
PERFORMANCE LIFE
GerberMask Ultra II is not a printable material and is only intended for short-term applications
during the painting or sandblasting process.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
GerberMask Ultra II can be stored for one year after purchase. Film should be stored vertically
using original packaging material and kept in a clean area free from excessive moisture and
direct sunlight. Maintain temperature at less than 75°F (23°C) and a maximum of 70% RH.
Cut graphics can be stored flat or wound on a minimum 3-inch diameter core tube with cut-side
facing out. If stored flat, do not place heavy objects on top or placed cut graphics on an irregular
surface.

CUTTING
GerberMask Ultra II can be cut on any 15-inch EDGE-compatible sprocketed plotter. Plotters should be set
to 50% speed. A 45° SuperSharp blade is recommended.
For optimal results, a test cut should be performed with as little weight as possible and gradually
weight or attempting to cut the film too fast will cause it to bind in the plotter.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
Be sure that the intended application surface for GerberMask Ultra II is clean, dry, and free of
any solvents or petrochemicals.
APPLICATION TECHNIQUES
1. Cut the GerberMask Ultra II and then weed as a stencil.
2. Transfer the stencil onto the sign surface using low tack application tape.
3. Apply the paint within the stencil by hand, airbrush or spray paint. Not for use with
lacquer-based paints.
4. Remove the mask when the paint is just dry to the touch. Leave the mask on less than
12 hours. Leaving on longer than necessary could make it difficult to remove.
