GerberMask ULTRA is a 4 mil white vinyl film, coated with a low-tack removable adhesive now on a new moisture- resistant liner. Designed to be used as stencil masking film for application to a variety of smooth, flat substrates. The low-tack adhesive allows easy removal from substrates, with no adhesive transfer. Suitable for use on glass, Plexiglas, polycarbonate, flexible vinyl, stainless steel. NOTE: GerberMask ULTRA has a low-tack adhesive for easy removal from high energy surfaces. Rough, uneven, or curved surfaces may require a more aggressive adhesive.
GerberMask ULTRA II stencil mask with high-tack adhesive is available if greater substrate adhesion is required.
DESCRIPTION
GerberMask Ultra has been developed as a replacement for GerberMask I. GerberMask Ultra is
a 4-mil, white film with a low-tack adhesive system for use as a stencil mask on smooth, flat
surfaces. It features a moisture resistant liner that resists curling or expansion due to changes in
humidity. The result is a dimensionally stable and exceptionally flat masking product.
GerberMask Ultra can be easily identified by its green “GerberMask” imprint on the back.
INTENDED APPLICATIONS
GerberMask Ultra has been designed for use as stencil mask on smooth, flat surfaces. The film
can be hand or spray painted, light sandblasted or acid etched. The low-tack adhesive removes
easily from substrates like Plexiglas® and stainless steel.
Recommended Substrates: flexible vinyl, glass, polycarbonate, and stainless steel.
Minimum Application Temperature: 40°F
PERFORMANCE LIFE (UNPRINTED)
GerberMask Ultra is not a printable material and is only intended for short-term applications
during the painting or sandblasting process.
SHELF LIFE AND STORAGE
GerberMask Ultra can be stored for one year after purchase. Film should be stored vertically
using original packaging material and kept in a clean area free from excessive moisture and
direct sunlight. Maintain temperature at less than 75°F (23°C) and a maximum of 70% RH.
Cut graphics can be stored flat or wound on a minimum 3-inch diameter core tube with cut-side
facing out. If stored flat, do not place heavy objects on top or placed cut graphics on an irregular
surface.

CUTTING
GerberMask Ultra can be cut on any Gerber sprocketed or friction plotter. Plotters should be set
to 50% speed. A 45° SuperSharp blade is recommended.
For optimal results, a test cut should be performed with as little weight as possible and gradually
increased until the vinyl layer is completely cut and the liner is lightly scored. Using too much
weight or attempting to cut the film too fast will cause it to bind in your plotter.
SUBSTRATE PREPARATION
Be sure that the surface that you are applying GerberMask Ultra to is clean, dry and free of any
solvents or petrochemicals.
APPLICATION TECHNIQUES
1. Cut the GerberMask then weed as a stencil.
2. Transfer the stencil onto the sign surface using low tack application tape.
3. Apply the paint within the stencil by hand, airbrush or spray paint. Not for use with
lacquer based paints.
4. Remove the mask when the paint is just dry to the touch. Leaving the mask on longer
than necessary could make it difficult to remove.
