DESCRIPTION
Gerber Heat Transfer Plus Graphics Film is a thin, thermally-printable, white, opaque flex material
designed for printing on the GERBER EDGE®, GERBER EDGE 2, and GERBER EDGE FX™ thermaltransfer printers using standard GerberColor™ Spot, Process Pro™ and Medal foils. This product can
be contour cut into small shapes (because of the polyester backing) and offers excellent image quality
and washability on a wide variety of fabrics – not just standard substrates such as cotton and polyester,
but also substrates that would otherwise be more difficult to bond to, such as blended textiles.

PRINTING
Use Gerber Heat Transfer Plus Film settings when printing with the GERBER EDGE, GERBER EDGE 2,
or GERBER EDGE FX thermal transfer printing systems.
GerberColor™ Spot (GCS), GerberColor Process Pro™ CMYK (GCP), GerberColor Transparent
(GCT) and Gerber Color Medal (GCM) Series Foils can be used to print onto Gerber Heat Transfer
Plus Film.
Gerber Heat Transfer Tape (P84936A) is recommended to be used as the transfer carrier for all printed
graphics.
Recommended working environment is as follows:
• Operating temperature: 50ºF to 95ºF / 10ºC to 35ºC
• Recommended temperature for assured printing accuracy: 68ºF to 78ºF / 20ºC to 26ºC
• Operating humidity: 20% to 90% relative humidity, non-condensing (maximum range;
actual range varies by material used)
Select “Gerber Heat Transfer Plus” for the media to print with in Composer or OmegaPlot. Print with the
Gerber Edge series printers in 300 dpi. 1200 dpi is not recommended for Gerber Heat Transfer Plus
material.
CONTOUR CUTTING
DO NOT USE DEFAULT SETTINGS. You MUST change the settings and set a new default before cutting.
Contour cutting can be done after printing and you can cut into the printed areas of the graphic for a
more detailed transfer. Heat Transfer Plus should be cut with a 45 degree “sharp” blade at approximately
3 to 4 oz of down force. A test cut prior to production is recommended. Cut speed of 15 to 18 in./sec.
should work for most applications. We recommend that you always do a test cut before starting
production. A dull blade will make for more difficult weeding and transferring of a graphic. Once you find
a setting that works for you we recommend you go into plotter settings and click on “Set Default” This will
make your settings the default so you will always start with these settings.
DO NOT USE FACTORY DEFAULT SETTINGS as the force will be too high and cut into the liner.
APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Procedure for masking and peeling of graphics from the carrier as follows:
1. We recommend waiting at least 1 minute before applying the Gerber Heat Transfer Tape.
2. For best results, apply the transfer tape and allow 30 minute’s dwell time for the transfer tape to increase
bond. Adhesives build over time. See item 3 for removing graphic from its carrier film.
3. Before peeling the graphic, re-squeegee the graphic firmly, then with the graphic laying on the table
“image facing up” lift the transfer tape up and away from the liner / carrier. If the transfer tape picks the
graphic up at 30 minutes dwell time, you can shorten the waiting period.
Heat Transfer, Option 1:
With the image facing up, peel the transfer away from the liner / carrier. Pre-Heat textile for 3-5 seconds.
Apply the graphic to the textile and press for 17-20 seconds at 265°F / 130°C with medium high
pressure. Then after 5 sec. remove the Gerber Heat Transfer Tape using a hot peel. Washing resistance
up to 104°F / 40°C.
For Polyester textiles, Press for 10 – 12 seconds.
Heat Transfer, Option 2:
Alternate pressing method which can provide higher washing resistance, up to 140°F / 60°C.With the
image facing up, Pre-Heat textile for 3-5 seconds. Peel transfer away from the liner / carrier. Apply
graphic to the textile and press for 7-10 seconds at 265°F / 130°C, medium high pressure. After 5 sec.
remove the Gerber Heat Transfer tape using a hot peel. Do a second pressing without the transfer tape
for 5-7 seconds at 265°F / 130°C.
Heat Transfer, Option 3: Non-Washables:
With the image facing up, Heat setting at low temperatures may be possible, as low as 225F – 240F /, for
10 seconds plus or minus, Hot / Warm Peel (Testing Recommended).
Garment Care:
Wait 24 hours before first washing, wash & dry garment inside out, machine wash & dry at low
temperatures. See “Wash Resistance” specification. Use mild detergents. No Chlorine. We do not
recommend Dry Cleaning.
Store Heat Transfer Plus Materials in a cool and dry place; protect against the influence of light when
stored. We recommend not exceeding a storage period of 24 months. Due to the variety of possible
influences / exposure outside of our control, to include processing / use, all specifications should be
viewed as reference values. We recommend a suitability test to the material before a production.
Technical specifications rest on extensive tests and technical research, however, a legally binding
warranty of specific characteristics and or performance cannot be provided.
