Product Description
The HDMI over Cat Four Port transmitter allows HDMI audio/video signals to be extended over Cat5e, Cat6, or Cat6a cables to up to four displays at up to 300ft at a 1080p resolution. Up to sixteen displays may be supported when using additional transmitters and receivers. The Uses tab of this page shows an example of daisy-chaining two of these transmitters to support eight receivers/displays. This solution is compatible with any operating system and is truly plug and play with no drivers or software required. The receivers are available in either a wall plate or box form factor and are interoperable with this transmitter allowing this solution to meet the needs of the installation environment. In addition, this solution utilizes TruChoice™ power, which allows power to be supplied over the Cat cables to up to four receivers from a single power adapter placed at the transmitter end of the solution. HDBaseT technology supports HDCP and allows the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) signals, i.e. communication of the display’s capabilities, to pass through the extension solution ensuring that the content from the source is sent at the optimal resolution for the display. Built-in power surge protection and high ground loop immunity ensure high performance signal extension.

The 4-Port HDMI over Cat Box Transmitter features buttons on the front of the unit that allow the content to the connected receivers and displays to be temporarily disabled. The ports may be disabled individually as a button is provided for each of the Cat output ports. This feature allows the user to edit content through a monitor connected to the local HDMI output of the transmitter without displaying content at the remote locations. HDBaseT technology supports HDCP and allows the Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) signals, i.e. communication of the capabilities of the display, to pass through the extension solution ensuring that the content from the source is sent at the optimal resolution for the display. The 4-Port HDMI over Cat Box Transmitter features four different modes of EDID communication to provide the best performance for the connected displays. The auto sync mode is ideal for situations where the displays are of the same make and model, or where the displays have identical performance characteristics. The three manual sync modes, Audio only, Video only and Audio and Video, utilize the EDID copy feature of the transmitter to store and use EDID information from a single monitor. This is ideal for situations where displays with different performance characteristics will be used. Copying and using the EDID information from the display with the lowest performance level will ensure that all displays are capable of receiving a signal. The LED lights on the front of the transmitter provide the communication status of the connected receivers and displays. Information on the LED lights can be found on the Specs tab of this page.

Note: Stranded Cat5e/6/6a patch cables may be used for HDMI extension applications up to 230ft. Shielded, solid conductor Cat6 or HDBaseT Certified Cat6a network cabling is recommended for applications where the category cable must be coiled, is run near other high-frequency signaling cables, or in high EMI/RFI environments. For best performance use a Cat6 Solid Shielded Patch Cable or an HDBaseT Certified Cat6a Patch Cable.
